Press Release for the 2008 Maui Earth Day Festival

The 2008 Maui Earth Day Festival at Baldwin Beach Park will be held on Sunday, April 20th, from 10:AM until sunset.

This free event will feature live music and performances all day, a host of environmental and social awareness booths and speakers, a variety of food booths, and a keiki fun and activities area. We expect over 40 organizations to have information booth at the Festival.

This year's Maui Earth Day Festival will feature a special aerial helicopter group photo at 3pm. We will gather on the beach in a big circle and hold a giant sign stating our demand to Congress to stop global warning. The sign will say Congress: Cut Carbon by 50% by 2020. Plans are to print postcard immediately after the photo to be distributed to the participants free of charge during the festival.

The mission of the Maui Earth Day Festival is to raise public awareness on local and global issues through public speeches on stage and by showcasing the local environmental and social awareness organizations who are active in solving the issues we face.  The goal is to educate and motivate the public to take action and get involved in preserving out beautiful island, solving our environmental and social issues, and saving our precious planet.  Musicians and performers are selected who support the mission of Earth Day through their artistic expression.

Organizations and volunteers, please call to get involved.

This is a drug free, alcohol free, family event.  All are invited to attend.
